APREZO 20MG is an over-the-counter oral medicine containing aprepitant, used primarily for preventing nausea and vomiting associated with chemotherapy.
Aprepitant works by blocking a specific chemical messenger in your brain called substance P, which triggers nausea and vomiting signals. By preventing this messenger from reaching its target receptors, the medication stops nausea and vomiting before they start. This makes it particularly effective for preventing severe nausea associated with chemotherapy treatment. The medication typically begins working within a few hours and provides relief for an extended period.
Take orally as prescribed by your doctor. Typical chemotherapy-related dosing: 125mg on day 1, then 80mg on days 2 and 3. For post-operative use: single 40mg dose within 3 hours before induction of anaesthesia.
