How it works

Bactrim DS is a combination antibiotic that works by targeting bacteria in two different ways. Sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim both interfere with bacterial folate metabolism, which is essential for bacteria to produce DNA and reproduce. By attacking this process at two different points, the combination is more effective at killing a wider range of bacteria than either drug alone. This makes it useful for treating various bacterial infections including urinary tract infections, ear infections, and certain respiratory infections.

How to use

1 tablet (DS = double strength) twice daily for 7-14 days, or as prescribed by your doctor. Take with food if stomach upset occurs.
