Duphalac is an osmotic laxative syrup containing lactulose, used to relieve constipation and promote regular bowel movements by softening stool.
Duphalac contains lactulose, a sugar that your body cannot digest. When you take it, lactulose passes into your colon where it draws water into your intestines, making stools softer and easier to pass. This increased water content also stimulates bowel movements by gently stretching the intestinal walls. It's commonly used to relieve constipation and works gradually over a few days without harsh cramping.
Adults: 15–30 mL once daily, preferably in the morning. Can be mixed with fruit juice or water. Adjust dose based on effect; do not exceed 60 mL/day without medical advice.
