Lidocaine is a local anesthetic that works by blocking pain signals in your nerves. When applied to your skin, it numbs the area where you apply it, providing temporary relief from pain and discomfort. This gel formulation allows the lidocaine to penetrate the skin effectively and is commonly used for minor cuts, burns, insect bites, and other skin irritations. The numbness typically begins within a few minutes and can last for several hours.
Apply a thin layer of gel directly to the affected area. Allow 5–10 minutes for numbing effect. Reapply every 3–4 hours if needed, but do not exceed 4–5 applications per day. Do not ingest.
