Mupirocin 2% w/w
Mupimet is a topical antibiotic ointment containing mupirocin, used to treat bacterial skin infections such as impetigo, folliculitis, and minor cuts or wounds.
No significant systemic drug interactions when applied topically in small amounts
Mupirocin is an antibiotic that works by stopping bacteria from producing the proteins they need to survive and grow. When applied to your skin, it creates an unfavorable environment for bacterial growth, allowing your body's natural immune system to clear the infection. This makes it effective for treating minor cuts, wounds, and skin infections caused by susceptible bacteria. The ointment base helps the medication stay on the affected area longer, ensuring prolonged contact with the infection site.
Apply a thin layer of ointment to the affected area 2–3 times daily. Cover with a sterile dressing if needed. Wash hands after application unless treating the hands.
Adults and children with superficial bacterial skin infections; avoid on large open wounds
